PROGRESS...PROGRESS on Marilyn Today the final full skim coat was applied before a primer coat goes on tomorrow. I have to admit that work on Marilyn has been interrupted on a few occasions the past couple of weeks because "Bondo Billy" has had to work on other cars as well, he is only a one man shop. John Filling with cludge is no way to do a proper job! You should have put her to one side until you found a complete NOS shell rather than having it bodged like that! She was far from being bodged Joe. Billy is seen in the above photo applying a very thin skim coat of a product called ICING and the green filler was needed to remove imperfections. All in all the repairs were amazing with the original integrity back to 100%. The cost of shipping over an entire roof panel was too much of a financial burden for me (almost 1500 Euros, but the one corner only cost 68 Euros to ship from Germany). Body repairs in the USA is much different than in Europe...here (even a brand new panel) is skim coated with Icing before primer is applied. John PS...much better than tin foil and tons of filler (as found on Sandra and Mushy V)

;D Apology accepted Joe. Stop listening to the little voices coming from Elmstead Market I have been in contact with the PO of "Marilyn" and sent some photos of the finished repairs. He was extremely pleased. ;D He in turn is sending over a file of photos (on Memory card) of some 73 piccies he and his Daughter took while Marilyn was used on the movie set (The Double). This is one I already had; John

The repairs came out better than I could have imagined. From this.... To this... Nearing the finish line with Marilyn. Replacing the headliner took over 3 1/2 hours, what a nightmare. Next day was spent cleaning the interior of all the dust accumulated during the repairs. The following day most of the interior is now back in with only a few small bits left. Only need to do some weatherstrip re-gluing around the O/S door. If the weather holds up I should be able to give her a good run by the end of this week. John

Mushy ?? Well, Hopefully I will be returning to her next week. I did manage to computer match her original paint color so the new paint is waiting for me at the body shop. All the body work is completed, she has been stripped & prepared for paint. I just need to get motivated and put the motor back together (bits are still scattered all over the shop floor) John
