IT'S TIME FOR A GREEN UPDATE (No, nothing to do with Al Gore & his Global Warming Theories Joe )Finally a "Mushy V" update...The time for her to get new paint is drawing closer so time for me to get off my arse. Nice new Head Gasket. ;D It's coming together. Tomorrow I torque the head bolts and set the valves. John

DAMN...It's a motor again (almost) Just a few tid-bits left (Water Pump, Fan Assembly, fill fluids and adjust timing) ...AND PRAY IT RUNS John

Of course it'll run, John - just don't forget to re-torque the head after a few miles

Shouldn't need to pray if you've done it correctly. Why a few miles Joe? I do them without them going anywhere.

Oh, "Re-Torque head bolts" are already on the Maint. schedule @ 100 miles Joe...better safe than sorry. I have mine set at 45 ft/lbs currently (factory specs call for 40-47). Next is to refit the Water Pump. Only 3 bolts broke off when it was removed. ;D ;D Decided to re-use the pump since it was fairly new and in great condition (Yes, I do have a few new in inventory). Just a matter of changing the gaskets and a few bolts. The biggest pain in the arse will be to carefully bleed all the air out of the cooling system before starting the motor. Hopefully this last bit will be on within the next few days so I can test drive her this weekend. John

I've always had to start a motor in order to bleed it... You can release quite a lot of the air in the system by filling it up and squeezing the bottom rad hose for a 2 or 3 minutes or by turning the engine over by hand. Then start the engine with the rad cap still off and let it idle until the thermostat opens to release any remaining air.
