John has those alloys on because his secret guilty pleasure is that he'd really like a Renault I don't know where the 14" tyre excuse comes from as all Ovlovs have 4.5J x 13" rims from memory LOL.... I'd really like a Renault Rich ?? OH HELL NO !! Yes, the Dolvo wheels are 13" (my two 44s as well as the Kalmar are 14" and the 44s need new ones...plus, I'm getting cheap in my old age. Any possiblity of sending through all my bits you have (plus the front Valance belonging to "Two Jobs") ?? ?? ?? John

Yes, when they upstairs gets cleared. I will have to find someone cheap to do it though, which may be tough.... As far as your bits go, I can think of a flask (somewhere) and wheel cylinders (Brian's). Have I forgotten anything?

WELL....Essex DAFs js not the only place to find wild Chickens roaming the area. Since a few weeks ago my neighbor acquired a flock as well. My neighbor's flock also has tendencies to wander, much like Farmer George's flock.... Notice the escaped fowl outside the fenced area...LOL Anyone know a good recipe for Rooster Stew ?? ?? ;D ;D ;D ;D Yuppers... a flask & wheel cylinders on my list as well Rich. Cheers. John

Today was the big day I have been waiting for..... Today Jay Ramey from AutoWeek Magazine will be doing four (4) issues about 4 of my DAFs/DOLVOs. These are the four I picked out to be featured... Jay made his appearance and we proceeded to take one car at a time for separate shootings at different locations around town. With camera at he ready and a recorder in his pocket we talked about each car as they were photographed. He was even taken up to the Research Center and he was fascinated by the DAF-USA collection. Every car a a nice long turn getting photographed. I am looking forward to seeing the cars in print and Jay has promised to give me advanced warning about release dates for the four issues. John

Here is the first installment of the AutoWeek articles (this is the on-line version, soon to be in print (hopefully) www.autoweek.com/article/20130816/CARNEWS01/130819941Absolutely pleased as hell how the MUSHY V story came out. ;D ;D In other news from across the pond; I just returned from a week of working on the DAF Shellette in Virginia. Let me tell you the car is everything I expected. They placed me 100% in charge of all mechanics so to work I went. ;D Massive work was done to the chassis, Variomatic as well as the motor.... By Saturday morning the entire rear end was finished off. Unfortunately the motor was not so lucky... I ended up replacing the push rod tube O rings (two tubes were blocked with old oil) but could not locate a front oil seal in the area. It would have taken a week to ship one in so I'll post one from my shop when I return home. These bits are also being shipped from Vermont. The struts were so badly damaged from the car being driven over bumpy roads at high speed (this happened before they knew what the car was worth) that I was not able to re-build them. The same holds true for the Rack & Pinion steering box. I was surprised at how much work was accomplished in a short five days but at least the rear end is 100% again. John

I had a good Saturday with Bob C. who came down to help me attend the 30th Anniversary Volvo Club of America Meet at Stratton, Vermont. Because he was here I was able to take both MARILYN as well as SWEET PEA (aka: Mushy V)... I think everyone up there was looking forward to seeing the two "orphan Volvo" cars since the VCOA national magazine ("ROLLING") had just done an article on Mushy prior to the show. Bob & I spent a lot of time answering questions so were in our glory. ;D Yes, I did manage to obtain 2 copies for the archives.
