NO NEED TO FRET GENTLEMEN, MYSTERY SOLVED !! After the rack had a good overnight soak I discoved this... A hole in the Rack's endcap. Mr. Tin Worm had a feast. No wonder it was seized, water had gotten in and rusted everything solid. It was all taken apart, cleaned, sanded and re-greased. After putting it all together it worked as it should. ;D ;D ;D ;D The hole was sealed up with my special two part epoxy putty...good as new after a quick re-paint. It did not take me long to re-install it (after re-tapping three holes)... Working like a new Rack now. I spent the rest of today doing a complete inspection of the Steel Chassis and only found one bad spot on the left cross frame... This will require my welding skills to install a new cover plate. But it will be the only welding Postal Pete will be getting. John

Well done with the rack John and it looks great..considering the condition of Postal Pete, what rust there is,is limited

Mr. Rust is indeed VERY limited on "Pete". As a matter of information the rust on the suspension is only surface without any pitting. I will have to raise the body slightly to renew the rubber cushions...after that a quick cleaning and painting underneath.

BRITISH INVASION-2012Well, the plans are under way for our executive visit to the UK. Airfare prices have been checked and double checked. Should we fly into Glasgow and drive 7 hours to Colchester ?? Should we fly into Dublin and drive/ferry for 14+ hours ?? or... Fly into Heathrow and get picked up ?? John

I'm a little too old to be pushed out of a moving Airplane...even with a Parchute. ;D ;D ;D We'll probably opt for the Glasgow thing...as long as we have use of a certain White vehicle. Tentatively there will be three (3) who are participating in the "British Invasion Tour-2012" and plans are to depart the States on 22 August which should put us in Glasgow early on the 23rd. If all goes well, we should be arriving at the OCI around mid afternoon. John

I would suggest the following.
Fly into Dublin and either catch the ferry to Holyhead and Convoy with the DAF Messiah. Or catch the ferry to Fishguard and I will meet you and bring to colchester as in the grand scheme of things its not that far off route. That is if you can put up with Triumph power. Anyway it would be quite handy for me as if my plans come to fruition I will have two cars to drive back and at the moment only one driver. Mum will be driving again by then but deffo wont be up to a long distance run
