A bloddy sierra has a wider appeal than a DAF does it yeah right! something tells me they've been talking to the MG owners club who must still be jelous that our DAFs get more attention than them at Lichfield every year.

One car marque missing from that list has a spectacular weekender coming up, with some people coming thousands of miles to attend. I know I'm biased but it would have made great television and opened the eyes of many - many who will be interested in ALL cars (like I am).
It really is a missed opportunity if you ask me. It's very sad.

Great, a Beetle. They have been done to death on Wheeler Dealers and Beetle Crisis something or other. Yawn, yawn, yawn. Oh, how different is that!
Sierra? Ummm, no comment. The Jeep and Anglia might be reasonable, but the rest? Pah!

Agreed, Pete. It's what's caused the 24-hour reality tv we get nowadays - God forbid anyone would step outside the box!

Pastiche...... that's a great word.
Josh, if you read this then you can guage the depth of feeling in relation to the rather odd decision.
Poor, poor choice methinks. A bloody Sierra, fabulous. Can't wait to wzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Lads.
Sad though it is, it'll be down budget or willingness of a restorer to commit to a particular job/schedule.
Lets look at the boxes to tick: Interesting people story, easy to restore car, production schedule, getting to locations. If it was down to broadness of appeal, then I may not have picked a DAF in the first place. It's not like the country is swimming with DAF specialists and whoever had been pencilled in to do the job may have been doing some sucking through teeth. That could possibly be down to familiarity with a particular car, ability to do work on a particular car and ability to do said work to tight schedule.
In fairness to RP, I think an insurmountable problem has reared it's head somewhere external to them and the business decision has been made to quit and move on.

Agreed Rich. You'll see that my previous postings have been of commiseration for Kev and disappointment that DAFs loose out again to the mainstream. BUT, I think Josh sounded quite genuine, he had an interest on the community and this is out of his control. If Natgeo cut the budget then I guess the easier option is to concentrate on the popular marques with parts back up and specialists. At least we were briefly given a chance and who knows, maybe there will be a series two?
