I was also shocked to read that Isabelle is such a rustbucket... When I saw her on ebay I thought she was a bargainous, solid car ! Oh, well... I guess you can never know with old cars, especially ones that have been restored by someone else.
Major respect to you for deciding to get stuck in and sort her out properly !

Eventually she will be good but I am beginning to think that she might need to sit on a new frame ie chassis with a real back axel and gearbox along with a minimum of 4 litre v8. I must admit she might turn into a labour of love. Or a drag queen I don't want to reduce another 33 to parts but she is devolving very fast. Don't worry she deserves another chance but behave she must. I understand I am only a custodian but she needs to understand she is loved but some one may need a home or be a foster car then she will feel it.

A V8 powered 33 on a ladder chassis ? Sacrilege ! I can only assume that those heretic ideas are the result of inhaling excessive welding fumes

I had a look at her late last year as she was local to me and I was shocked to see how rusty a recently "restored" car could be. I understand that the car resto was for a charity so costs would have been kept down to a minimum but the amount of bubbling under the fresh paint points to a lack of preparation or concern for the longevity of the car. Good luck with her Ozzie, despite everything she is very cute!

A big v 8 up front something like 7.4 ltr and big Micky Thompsons at the back. Gasser style of course.

Is it the batteries ? The ones with the little solar panel can often recharge themselves if they stay in the light for a while. Otherwise a set of batteries should sort it.
Alternatively, my SWP is a posh one with variable shade and was only £40 (which is far cheaper than a new pair of eyes !).

I have tried that one and it's still no good. I can't find any place to get at a battery or change it. But it good news they are now so cheep. I will have to look into it mine was ne'er on £100 but they were new ish then mine is a swap I think but now it's a door stop. But I will have a look when I get a mo.
