Got the Pick-up into the polytunnel where it has begun it's big dry out; managed to get it started, with one obvious problem, noise from clutch area,so the first job when I get round to it, is engine out. Still need a N/S front wing.

Just a quick note, have finished the new shed and put the digger and quad in it. Now need to tidy the area where the digger and quad were in the workshop, then I can get the Pick-up and the Van where I can do some work on them. Problem is Graham[Daf Classics] was going to bring down the doors for the van and wing/s later this month, but not sure now we have another lock down.

Hi Everyone, I am at present working with a company who are interested in producing electronic ignition for our 33 to 46 range of twin cylinders. I am at present waiting for the temperture to rise in my workshop from the minus degree temperatures to something I can work in!! They have supplied me with a brand new scratch built distributor to fit, test and appraise. in the van. If successful they intend to produce a limited number for stock at around £135, which I consider is a sensible price considering the one on the market already is said to be around £350. I hope to test another which is my distributor converted to electronic ignition, which hopefully will lead to the availability of a conversion kit to fit the standard DAF distributor. This would obviously be far cheaper. I have had classics with electronic ignition fitted and the benefits are:- no contacts to adjust/replace, no condensers to replace, accurate timing once set requiring no adjustment, no affected by moisture and usually fairly good starting. Anyway let's see how well they work and once I have tested both types I'll report back on both pro boards.

At last I am able to re-start work on the van. Have stripped down the drivers door as it has the usual problem on the top edge where the window water seal is located. The metal strip which holds the seal in place, plus the door edge have rusted out, so new metal needs to be added. Then it's a spray in primer, a light coat of colour and the door can be re-built and fitted. This will be follwed by the front grill and bonnet.Following a massive fill and rub down then joy of joy a complete respray!! Don't know the time scale as there is a huge amount of work around the farm to do.

Have at last got two good doors from Graham Meinert at Classic DAFs. I have the drivers one fitted having painted the inside of the door and door opening. I hope to paint the passenger door and door opening this week, fit the bonnet, paint the inside surface of the grill and fit, then it's off to be sprayed in two pack. Usually I have cellulose paint, but there is quite a few "bits" that are sprayed in coach paint which makes it extremely difficult to use cellulose!!
