Good progress Ken. You don't let any grass grow under you feet I see. Hope everything works out with VEE. Still, rotten luck it had to happen on your maiden voyage. John

Cheers John. Speed fuelled by irritation and annoyance to be honest. Hey ho, what's done is done. Today saw me fire up the electric file. It probably doesn't look like much has happened since yesterday, anyway here are the results: This shows just how much filler was used on the front wing following an old accident. They had done quite a good job with regards to the shaping, but oh what a lot of filler! Again, getting down to the bare metal was important as it gave me an idea as to what I was dealing with. This has now been rustproofed using Kurust. The other side wasn't too bad at all and gives me a good idea as to what I am aiming for. This is just a very rough application to fill the worst of the gaps left by the old filler. Next step will be to add more filler and start shaping. Any bare metal will be red oxided. It will be a bit 'trial and error' as I am not over familiar with the profile of the 33 panels. Even if it is all just in red oxide for now, at least I will be able to use the car in time for Joe's visit and hopefully halogen loveliness and a quick brake check (cheers Joe). Oh, where can I get these: The n/s one is missing and the o/s one looks very tired and not really doing anything. I fitted a new batter earth cable and battery connector, the positive one that I bought was too long and I will take it back tomorrow. More Vee work will be done at the weekend. Photos will follow. Cheers Ken

Hmm, just had a thought. Wickes do a profile guage for a couple of quid. That might be a good way of achieving the right profile on the panels!!!!!! Ooooooooooooooooh, excellent!

Bugger, forgot to go to Wickes today. However, I did go to Halfords and swap that battery lead for a shorter one. I also bought some bling for Vee to aid the bonding process.
I'd love to know what the name of that blue is. Such a nice colour.

It is a gorgeous color, two of my favorite DAF colors.

Cheers for that John. Updates!!!! Cos we like updates! So, this is what I started with: Next stage was a light application of filler: Then today saw this: and this: Which led to this: and this: This work is purely to get her back on the road and is by no means pretty in any way, shape of form. This was done quickly and it shows. Tomorrow will see the filler primer lightly sanded down and then painted in red oxide to protect the work. I will make it better as time progresses. My aim is to eventually replace the already badly damaged wing and indicator housing panel with new stuff (when I can get it). The bodge that you see will enable me to at least use the car in the interim. Here's a piccie of the Mobylette that I have. i replaced the points, condenser and plug today. Still no go. Next is petrol and coil. Grrr.

Don't be too hard on yourself Ken, you've made a vast improvement over how she looked after the accident. At least you've made a decent go of things and not used tank tape like a certain other 33.

She is looking good in the pics, Ken - I'll give a more critical review if you make it to ED next weekend
